Standard 1:  Creativity and Innovation – Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology.

 

Grades:  K–2

 

            Benchmarks: 

1.      Apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products or processes.

·         Grades K-2:  Use teacher created or directed technology to create, illustrate and represent ideas, stories or processes in a curriculum area.

 

2.      Create original works as a means of personal or group expression.

·         Grades K-2:  Use teacher provided or directed technology, and work independently or cooperatively in a group, to create original projects that express a thought, idea or story.

 

3.      Use models or simulations to explore complex systems or issues.

·         Grades K-2:  Use teacher provided technology to explore, describe and illustrate content related concepts, systems or issues.

 

4.      Identify trends and forecast possibilities.

·         Grades K-2:  Use teacher provided technology to research, collect data, identify trends, make predictions and draw conclusions. (ie: life cycles of plants, life cycles of animals etc.)

3.      Use models or simulations to explore complex systems or issues.

·         Grades 3-6:  Describe and illustrate a content related concept or process using a model, simulation or concept mapping software, with teacher guidance.

 

4.      Identify trends and forecast possibilities.

·         Grades 3-6:  Gather data, examine patterns, and process information using technology and resources, with guidance from the teacher.
