Standard 2:  Communication and Collaboration – Students use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others.

 

Grades:  K–2

 

            Benchmarks: 

1.      Interact, collaborate, and publish with peers, experts, or others employing a variety of digital environments and media.

·         Grades K-2:  Collaborate and publish a project, using teacher created or directed technology, by interacting with peers, experts or others.

 

2.      Communicate information and ideas effectively to multiple audiences using a variety of media and formats.

·         Grades K-2:  Communicate information and ideas to a peer, small group, or community using teacher created or directed technology to create slideshows, digital stories or books.

 

3.      Develop cultural understanding and global awareness by engaging with learners of other cultures.

·         Grades K-2:  Use teacher provided or directed technology to explore other cultures across the world and engage students with learners of other cultures through email and other electronic means.

 

4.      Contribute to project teams to produce original works or solve problems.

·         Grades K-2:  Use technology tools to work together as project teams to identify a problem and create a solution and/or create an original project for an area of the curriculum.

·         Grades 3-6:  Use a variety of technology and media, with teacher guidance, to create, edit and publish digital stories, slide show presentations or books with peers or others.

 

2.      Communicate information and ideas effectively to multiple audiences using a variety of media and formats.

·         Grades 3-6:  Communicate information and ideas to a group or target audience by using teacher guided various forms of technology, such as, multimedia presentations, digital stories or books.

 

3.      Develop cultural understanding and global awareness by engaging with learners of other cultures.

·         Grades 3-6:  Use teacher guided technology to research and develop a cultural understanding of other cultures, and use email and other technology to correspond with students from other countries.

 

4.      Contribute to project teams to produce original works or solve problems.

·         Grades 3-6:  Work together as project teams, with teacher guidance, to produce a multimedia presentation showing an original piece of work or how to solve a problem.

·         Grades 7-8:  Communicate information and ideas to a group or target audience by using various forms of technology such as multimedia presentations, videos, movies, digital stories or books.

 

3.      Contribute to project teams to produce original works or solve problems.

·         Grades 7-8:  Work together as project teams to produce a multimedia presentation showing an original piece of work or how to solve a problem.

·         Grades 9-12:  Present information and ideas to a group or target audience using various forms of technology.

 

3.      Contribute to project teams to produce original works or solve problems.

·         Grades 9-12:  Collaborate to produce multimedia presentations showing original pieces of work or solutions to problems.
