Standard 3:  Research and Information Fluency – Students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information.

 

Grades:  K–2

 

            Benchmarks: 

1.   Plan strategies to guide inquiry.

·         Grades K-2:  Using teacher provided technology and resources students will find the correct response to a teacher provided question or plan a strategy to guide their own inquiries.

 

2.   Locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and ethically use   information from a variety of sources and media.

·         Grades K-2:  Using teacher provided technology students will ethically locate, organize, analyze, evaluate and synthesize information from a variety of teacher created resources.

 

3.   Evaluate and select information sources and digital tools based on             the appropriateness to specific tasks.

·      Grades K-2:  Students will evaluate the effectiveness of teacher provided sources of information and digital tools to complete a specific task.

 

4.   Process data and report results.

·         Grades K-2:  Students will be introduced on how to collect and process data as well as report results of their research using various types of teacher created and directed technology.

·         Grades 3-6:  Using teacher guided technology, students will develop strategies to research, sort and analyze information.

 

2.   Locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and ethically use   information from a variety of sources and media.

·         Grades 3-6:  Students will use teacher guidance to locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and ethically use information from a variety of sources and media.

 

3.   Evaluate and select information sources and digital tools based on             the appropriateness to specific tasks.

·         Grades 3-6:  Students will use teacher guidance to evaluate the effectiveness of information sources and digital tools to complete a specific task.

 

4.   Process data and report results.

·         Grades 3-6:  Students will use teacher guidance on how to collect and process data, as well as, report the results of their research using a variety of technology.

3.   Evaluate and select information sources and digital tools based on             the appropriateness to specific tasks.

·         Grades 7-8:  Students will evaluate the effectiveness of sources of information and digital tools to complete a specific task.

 

4.   Process data and report results.

·         Grades 7-8:  Students will collect and process data, as well as report the results of their research using a variety of media.

·         Grades 9-12:  Students will evaluate a variety of sources for relevant information in order to develop research projects.

 

3.   Evaluate and select information sources and digital tools based on             the appropriateness to specific tasks.

·         Grades 9-12:  Students will evaluate and select relevant sources of information and media for completing specific tasks.

 

4.   Process data and report results.

·         Grades 9-12:  Students will collect and process data, as well as report the results of their research using current technology.
