Standard 6:  Technology Operations and Concepts – Students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems and operations.

 

Grades:  K–2

 

            Benchmarks: 

1.      Understand and use technology systems.

·         Grades K-2:  Students will show understanding and demonstrate correct use of computer components and terminology, start up, login and shut down of the computer. (i.e. computer, monitor, mouse, touchpad, keyboard, desktop, cursor, icon, menu, button, URL web address, CD, printer, digital camera and video camera)

 

2.      Select and use applications effectively and productively.

·         Grades K-2:  Students will be introduced and directed by the teacher on how to select, use and manipulate applications effectively and productively.

 

3.      Troubleshoot systems and applications.

·         Grades K-2:  Students will recognize there is a problem and ask for assistance from the teacher.

 

4.      Transfer current knowledge to learning of new technologies.

·         Grades K-2:  Teachers will help students apply their current knowledge to learn new technologies as they become available or are taught.

2.      Select and use applications effectively and productively.

·         Grades 3-6:  Using teacher guidance, students will select and integrate appropriate applications to create and illustrate documents or presentations. 

                                                                            

3.      Troubleshoot systems and applications.

·         Grades 3-6:  Students will recognize there is a system problem and ask for assistance from the teacher. Students will ask for assistance or apply strategies for identifying and solving routine software problems. 

 

4.      Transfer current knowledge to learning of new technologies.

·         Grades 3-6:  Teachers will assist students in using their current knowledge to learn new technologies as they become available or are taught.
