Please note that the James B. Morris Scholarship application is now available online for your students. Please discard any hard copy applications you have on file as only the online application will be accepted. We appreciate your cooperation in directing interested students to the MSF website for a scholarship application.
The MSF was established in 1978 to provide financial assistance for minority students desiring to pursue post-secondary education. All scholarship applicants must be of minority ethnic status as defined by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Those eligible are:
1. U.S. citizens
2. Iowa high school graduates
3. Residents of Iowa
4. Planning to attend a U.S. college or university (high school seniors and community college students enrolled in a degree program are eligible to apply)
5. Consider themselves as either African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic or Native American
For the 2011-2012 academic year, the MSF awarded scholarships to twenty-four qualified minority students from around the state. Currently, Iowa State University, the University of Iowa, the University of Northern Iowa, Drake University, Simpson College, Grand View University, William Penn University , Wartburg College, Des Moines Area Community College, AIB College of Business, and Mercy College of Health Sciences have agreed to match MSF funds, thus doubling the amount of aid available to recipients.
The Scholarship Selection Committee would greatly appreciate any action you could take to publicize the scholarship to your students, available directly at
