What is a CPT Test?
Computerized Placement Test
1.What is the purpose of the test?
The purpose of the Computerized Placement Test (ACCUPLACER) is to determine current skill levels in Reading, Sentence Skills, Mathematics and Science. Scores for these tests are intended for use in placement decisions. Since the CPTs provide information about your skill accomplishment, it is important that you take your time and do your best. Specific minimum scores are needed for example in the areas of composition skills, criminal justice and biology.
2.How can I prepare to do my best?
• The following sample pre-tests are highly recommended: Reading, Sentence Skills, Arithmetic, Science and Algebra. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view these sample tests.
3.I have a student/child that is interested in preparing for the CPT test.Is there a place they can find a review?
Students can find a list of frequently asked questions about the CPT and print a copy of a practice test on the WITCC website. They can both be found at http://witcc.edu/testing_center/cpt.cfm.All sections (reading, sentence structure, math and science) can be found with sample questions and answers for the student to familiarize himself with.
